CLASS: Bombay Jam at Mona Khan Company
TRAINER: Archana — she’s fun and inviting. She encouraged everyone to bring their own flavor and asked for requests throughout the class.

LEVEL: This class is for all levels. The dance moves are simple enough for a newbie, but have enough intensity for an all-star dancer.
TOP 3 TAKEAWAYS:
- It’s a workout? As soon as the music turns on, you’re too busy dancing to remember that you’re also working out.
- Become a Bollywood Star. At least you’ll feel like it for the 60 minutes of class time.
- No rhythm, no problem. Rhythm is not required for Bombay Jam, just a willingness to put in effort and a desire to have fun.
MUSIC: The music was mostly popular Bollywood songs, but Archana also mixed in some latin and reggaeton.
BRING: A sweat towel and a water bottle. Class is performed with shoes on so bring your tennis.

THE WORKOUT
As soon as the music started, the class was ready to get after it. To get into the groove, the class does a series of what we guess are regular, pre-choreographed routines. Returning students moved like old pros, recognized many of the songs, and even sang along. New comers play a bit of catch-up at first, but the moves are easy to follow. Within minutes, it’s hard to tell who’s a newcomer and who’s a seasoned Bombay Jam goers. Each song was about 3 to 5 minutes in length.
After the first 30 minutes or so, Archana took us through a toning song to work our arms and glutes. After, Archana broke down the choreography for a new song. It took a few rounds of review and practice, but together we got it and tore up the dance floor. By the end of it, we were basically ready to star in a Bollywood film. Ok, maybe an over exaggeration, but we definitely felt confident in the moves and in our bodies.
As class came to a close, we cooled down to slower beats, complete with flowy dance moves and light stretching.
Overall, we got our hearts racing, did a bit of toning, and most importantly had a great time.
